Summary of Meeting June 10th 2026

Summary of June 10, 2026 OSC Meeting

The Oregon Sheep Commission met virtually on June 10, 2026 for the 2026-27 Budget Hearing and Regular Meeting, which included reviewing reports for the following projects completed during 2025-26. Reports are available on the Commission’s web site. https://oregonsheepcommission.com/projects-funded/

  1. OSU research: Status of Selenium and other Essential and Toxic Elements in Oregon Grazing Sheep
  2. Douglas County Ag Explorer Day in Roseburg, OR Oct. 1-2, 2025.
  3. Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom for 2025-26

The FY 2026-27 Budget for the Commission was adopted, including approval for the following four projects:

  • Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom
  • Willamette Heritage Center for 2027 Sheep to Shawl
  • OSU research: Identifying Immune Biomarkers Associated with Flock Health and Culling Risk in Oregon Sheep
  • 2026 Oregon State Fair Open Class Sheep Show Awards

In addition, the Commission gave final approval to a proposed change to delete the reference to “subsequent purchaser” from the Commission’s administrative rules. This change reflects the procedures utilized by the American Lamb Board. A handler purchasing sheep from a producer will remit the assessment directly to Oregon Sheep Commission and not to any subsequent purchaser. The proposed change is effective as of June 25, 2026.
